Samsung Exynos 800 5G SoC unveiled for mid-segment phones

Samsung has officially introduces its latest Exynos 800 chipset. The SoC already powers Vivo Y70s smartphone, which was announced yesterday in China.

It easily handles dual SIM and integrates 5G modem. It supports 5G NR Sub-6GHz (2.55Gbps DL / 1.28Gbps UL), EN-DC (3.55Gbps DL / 1.38Gbps UL), LTE Cat.16 5CA (1Gbps DL / 200Mbps UL).

The Samsung Exynos 880 chipset is basically a cut-down variant of Exynos 980. It is based on 8nm FinFET processor and comes with eight CPU cores (two 2GHz Cortex-A77 performance cores + six 1.8Ghz Cortex-A55 efficiency cores).

The SoC is paired with Mali-G76 MP5 GPU. It supports display with up to 2520 x 1080 pixels FHD+ resolution. It supports LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.1 / eMMC 5.1 storage space.

The Exynos 880 SoC can handle a single 64MP camera or dual 20MP + 20MP shooters. It can encode 4K UHD videos at 30fps and decode HEVC (H.265), H.264 and VP9.

Connectivity options like Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth V5.0, GPS/GLONASS/Bediou/Galileo and FM Radio will be supported.
