Samsung has just launched its latest flagship phone called Galaxy S8 at an event held in New York.
It measures 148.9 x 68.1 x 8 mm and weighs 155 Grams. It has invisible home button, which responds just like physical buttons. It has Dual SIM slots and supports 4G VoLTE. It runs on Android 7.0 Nougat OS out of the box.
It marks a new era of smartphone design. It has infinity display has that goes till its aluminium shell. The handset comes with IP68 rating for dust and water resistance.
It is also equipped with Fingerprint sensor, Heart rate sensor, Iris scanner, Facial Recognition and Barometer. Other sensors include Acceleromter, Gyro, Geomagnetic, Hall, Proximity Sensor, RGB Light Sensor and Pressure sensor. It also supports Samsung Pay and is equipped with array of security features.
The Samsung Galaxy S8 specs include 5.8-Inch curved Super AMOLED Infinity display with 2960 x 1440 pixels resolution and 570ppi pixel density. It has Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection as well. It’s infinity display is also first Mobile HDR Premium certified.
It is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC (10nm) with Adreno 540 GPU. Depending on the market, there will be an octa-core Samsung Exynos 9 series 8895 SoC powered variant with Mali-G71 MP20 GPU.
The S8 comes with 4GB RAM with 64GB storage and 6GB RAM (limited markets) with 128GB internal memory (Both UFS 2.1). It will allow further expansion as well.
It has Bixby smart intelligent interface which can be accessed from the button at the side. Its can even search images, landmarks, find shops or restaurants, create remainders and brings contextual understanding according to usage.

It’s front camera is of 8MP with F/1.7 Aperture, 1/3.6-inch Sensor, 80-degree FOV, 1.22µm pixels, 80-degree FOV and supports fast Auto Focus as well. The back side features a 12MP dual pixel snapper with F/1.7 Aperture, 1/2.55-inch sensor size, 1.4µm pixel size, 77-degree FOV, 8x Digital Zoom, LED Flash and 4K recording capabilities. It has multi-frame image processor that takes multiple photos and combines the best aspects to get the best picture. It also has pro-mode, Panorama, Slow Motion, Food Mode and Hyperlapse.
The smartphone is powered by 3000 mAh battery. It supports Wired and Wireless (PC and PMA) fast charging as well. It offers talk time of up to 20 hours, 4G internet usage of up to 12 hours and Video playback up to 16 hours.
Connectivity features include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Wi-Fi Hotspot, Dual Band (2.4/5GHz), Bluetooth V5.0 LE, GPS/A-GPS/GLONASS/Beidou, USB Type-C, NFC, ANT+, NFC, 3.5mm Audio Jack etc. The phone also offers UHQ 32-bit &DSD support.
The Samsung Galaxy S8 price starts at $750 (Rs.48,660). It comes in Midnight Black, Orchid Gray, Coral Blue, Arctic Silver and Maple Gold color options. The handset will go on pre-order from March 30th and will be available from April 21. It comes with in-ears from AKG by Harman, specially created for S8. It will be sold separately for $99 (Rs. 6420).
