Samsung and SKT have come together and has announced a unique smartphone called Galaxy A Quantum. The device comes with built-in Quantum Security (Quantum Random number generator) and 5G capabilities.

The Samsung Galaxy A Quantum houses world’s smallest (2.5 x 2.5mm) quantum random number generator (QRNG) chipset which allows mobile phone users to use a specific service by generating unpredictable and pattern-less pure random numbers.

The handset comes with ID Double login, SK Pay biometric authentication and blockchain mobile electronic authentication service. The Quantum chipset generates random encryption keys used in three services and are passed through encryption-decryption process when date is stored or exchanged (when encryption key is necessary).

To further elaborate, there is a CMOS image sensor inside the chipset which detects the light (photons) emitted by LED light source to produce a random key, which is unpredictable. This random number is provided to T ID, SK pay and initial apps to generate encryption keys.

If you look at the specifications of Galaxy A Quantum, it has 6.7-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display and is powered by Exynos 980 processor. The phone has dimensions of 152.5 x 75.5 x 8.1 mm and weighs about 185 grams.

The Samsung galaxy A Quantum features in 32MP front camera with F/2.2 Aperture. At the back side is quad camera setup along with LED Flash. It consists of 64MP (main, F/1.8) + 12MP (123-degree wide angle- F/2.2) + 5MP (Telephoto / Macro, F/2.2) + 5MP (depth, F/2.4) sensors.

In terms of connectivity, there is 5G / dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Wi-Fi Hotspot, Dual Band (2.4/5GHz), Bluetooth V5.0, USB Type-C and GPS support.

The Samsung Galaxy A Quantum price is KRW 649,000 (US$530 / €490) and comes in Black, Silver and Blue colors. It will go on sale from May 22 while its pre-bookings starts in South Korea from May 15th.
