Good news for Nokia fans. A Microsoft Executive has confirmed that at least two Nokia Android Smartphones are in the works. They are expected to go official sometime in early Q2, 2017.
James Rutherfoord, CEO of mobile device commodities of Microsoft Asia was quoted saying to a Vietnamese Publication that “HMD Global (the owner of Nokia commercial rights for 10 years) planned to launch two new phone products in the Q4, 2016 and at least two smartphones in the early Q2, 2017.”
These Nokia Android devices could be manufactured in Bac Ninh, Vietnam, a phone manufacturing facility managed by FIH Mobile. FIH has already acquired Nokia production facilities, global sales and distribution network from Microsoft (as per agreement between FIH, MHD and Nokia).
Nokia has already confirmed its presence at Mobile World Congress 2017. It may or may not announce a new device there. One thing we are sure is that we will see Nokia Branded devices next year.
