Xiaomi has finally ended the rumors and as expected, has launched its latest smartphone called Mi 5S. It has 5.15-Inch IPS LCD display with 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution. It offers 600nits brightness, 94.4% NTSC colour gamut, 1500:1 contrast ratio and supports multi-touch as well.
The smartphone makes use of Qualcomm’s Sense ID fingerprint technology and houses under glass fingerprint sensor. It is located just behind the home button, just under the glass panel. Under the hood is a 2.15GHz quad-core Snapdragon 821 SoC which is 10% more powerful than Snapdragon 820. It comes in 3GB LPDDR4 RAM with 64GB UFS 2.0 storage space and 4GB LPDDR4 RAM with 128GB UFS 2.0 internal memory options.
The Xiaomi Mi 5S specs include 4MP selfie snapper with F/2.0 Aperture, 80-degree wide angle lens, 2um pixels and supports 1080p video recording. On the back is 12MP primary camera, equipped with Sony IMX378 sensor, 1/2.3-inc sensor size, F/2.0 Aperture, PDAF, slomo 720p at 120 fps and supports 4K recording as well.
The mobile has dimensions of 145.6 x 70.3 x 8.25 mm and weighs 145 grams. It has 3200 mAh battery inside which supports Qualcomm’s QuickCharge 3.0 (comes with 9V/2A adapter). The device also supports 4G+ with 3CA (three carrier integration), offering speeds more than 350Mbps. It has Dual nano SIM slots inside.
The phone runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS (with MIUI 8) and supports all the major connectivity options like Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Wi-Fi Hotspot, Bluetooth V4.2, USB Type-C, GPS / GLONASS / Beidou, NFC, 3.5mm Audio jack etc.
The Xiaomi Mi 5S price starts at 1999 Yuan (US $300 ) for 64GB storage variant and 2299 Yuan for (US $345 ) for 128GB model. It comes in Silver, Gold, Rose Gold and Dark Gray colours. The Rose Gold and Silver variants will have matte finish at the back. The smartphone will go on sale from September 29th in China.
