Xiaomi has officially launched Redmi Y2 smartphone in India. It is the same smartphone with was announced as Redmi S2 in China.
It is a selfie focus smartphone with dedicated dual Nano SIM slots and MicroSD card slot. It is powered by Android 8.1 Oreo OS with MIUI 9 on top. It has rear mounted fingerprint sensor and IR sensor at the top edge.
The phone measures 160.73 x 77.26 x 8.1 mm and weighs 170 grams. It has 5.99-inch 2.5D curved glass multi-touch display with 1440 x 720 pixels HD+ resolution.
Under the hood is 2GHz octa-core Snapdragon 625 Mobile Platform with Adreno 506 GPU. It has 3GB RAM with 32GB storage and 4GB RAM with 64GB storage options. Both variant allows further expansion up to 256GB using MicroSD card.
The Redmi Y2 specs include 12MP primary rear camera with LED Flash, F/2.2 Aperture, 1.25μm pixel size and PDAF. There is a secondary 5MP rear shooter as well. At the front side is 16MP selfie camera with LED Flash, F/2.0 Aperture and 78.8-degree wide angle lens.
The hardware is powered by 3080 mAh (typical) / 3000 mAh (minimum) battery. Connectivity options like 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Wi-Fi Hotspot, Bluetooth V4.2, GPS and GLONASS are supported as well.
The Xiaomi Redmi Y2 price starts at Rs. 999 for 3GB/32GB model and goes up to Rs. 12,999 for 4GB/64GB variant. The handset comes in Dark Grey, Elegant Gold and Rose Gold colors. The mobile will be available online exclusively at Amazon.in and Mi.com along with Mi Home stores from June 12th.
