The BlackBerry Enterprise (BBMe) is finally open for general public. The BBMe is an enterprise-grade end-to-end encrypted messaging platform which was initially available only for enterprises.
The BlackBerry Enterprise is now available for individuals as Emtek (who manages BBM Consumer) has stated that it will shut down BBM Consumer services on May 31, 2019. This is because of users moving to a different messaging platform and lack of new user sign-in on BBM .
The BBMe is already available at Google Play Store for individuals. The App will land on Apple App Store soon as well. The Enterprise version will initially be available for free for a term of 1 year, following with a 6-months subscription cost of US$ 2.49.
Mark Wilson, Chief Marketing Officer, BlackBerry, said:
While we respect Emtek’s decision, we’re disappointed the platform did not thrive and grow as expected. After much consideration, we decided that BBM’s loyal users should continue to have a secure messaging platform that they can trust.
