CAT, a company known for its rugged smartphones has unveiled its 2nd generation smartphone with Thermal camera called CAT S61.
It is upgraded version of CAT S60 and comes with enhanced FLIR thermal imaging capabilities.It has an expanded temperature range from -20°C to 400°C (-4°F—752°F) and 720p resolution. Further more, it has updated MyFlir app that lets you livestream thermal video.
The handset features in built-in laser assisted distance measuring point-to-point distances up to 10 meters and calculate are. Moreover, users can save data allowing one to do additional measurements even after you leave the site.
The S61 packs an indoor air quality sensor from Sensiron which can track Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) and detect unhealthy environments. They include paints, solvents, cleaning products etc.
The CAT S61 is made up of leading rugged materials. It has Aluminum reinforced die-cast frame. The handset is IP68 rated making it waterproof and dust proof. It is tested in waters up to 3 meter depth for 1 hour. Moreover, the cell phone also complies with MIL Spec 810G standards and can sustain repeated drops on to concrete from 1.8 meters depth.
It has 5.2-inch 1080p touch screen that even works with gloves or wet fingers. Moreover, it is specially optimized for outdoor usage and comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. Under the hood is 2.2GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 Mobile Platform with Adreno 508 GPU.
The CAT S61 specs include 4GB RAM, 64GB internal memory and MicroSD card support for further expansion. There is an 8MP front facing camera for video calling. At the back side is 16MP primary auto-focus shooter with 4K video recording support.
Other hardware include 4500 mAh battery capacity with Quick Charge 4.0 support. If you are worried about connectivity, it supports 4G VoLTE, VoWiFi, Wi-Fi Dual Band (2.4/5GHz), Bluetooth V5.0, GPS etc.
The CAT S61 price is set at €899 / £799 (MSRP) and will be available for order at Catphones.com, Selected retailers and Operators globally. The handset will be showcased at MWC 2018.
