HMD Global has introduced its latest Android One smartphone called Nokia 8.1. It is basically global variant of Nokia X7 which was introduced in China in October.
The smartphone measures 154.8 x 75.76 x 7.97 mm and weighs 180 grams. It has Hybrid Dual SIM slots (Nano + Nano / MicroSD) and supports Dual 4G VoLTE. The handset runs on Android 9.0 Pie OS out of the box.
The device comes with aluminum-magnesium alloy frame and glass back. There is a rear facing fingerprint sensor for fast unlocking. Nokia OZO Stereo Audio recording is also present.
The Nokia 8.1 specifications include 6.18-inch multi-touch PureDisplay with 2246 x 1080 pixels resolution, 18.7:9 aspect ratio, 1500:1 contrast ratio, 500nits brightness and 96% NTSC color gamut. The screen delivers DCI-P3 colors and comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection.
Under the hood is octa-core (2.2GHz Kryo 360 x 2 + 1.7GHz Kryo 360 x 6) Snapdragon 710 mobile platform with Adreno 616 GPU. It has 4GB LPDDR4X RAM with 64GB eMMC5.1 storage space and allows further expansion up to 400GB using MicroSD card.
The Nokia 8.1 features in 12MP primary rear camera with 1/2.55-inch Sony IMX363 sensor, F/1.8 Aperture, 1.4μm pixels and OIS. There is a secondary 13MP rear shooter with F/2.2 Aperture and ZEISS optics. At the front side is 20MP shooter with F/2.0 Aperture,pixel binding to form 1.8μm pixels. AI Beauty and AI Portrait mod, AI Studio light, AI Expression and new dual-view mode are also present.
The phone packs in 3500 mAh (typical) battery with fast charging support. Connectivity options include dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Wi-Fi Hotspot, Dual Band (2.4/5GHz), Bluetooth V5.0, USB Type-C, GPS/GLONASS and 3.5mm Audio Jack.
The Nokia 8.1 Price in Europe is €399 (US$ 452 / Rs. 31,000 approx.). The device price in UAE is 1499 Dirham (US$ 408 / Rs. 28,800 approx.) and will be available from December 15th. Rest of the middle ease will get the phone on December 20th. The Nokia 8.1 color options include Blue/Silver, Iron/Steel and Steel/Copper.
