Qualcomm has officially introduced a new Smartphone for Snapdragon Insider program, catering specifically to Snapdragon Enthusiasts. It was designed an unveiled in partnership with ASUS.
Aesthetically, Snapdragon Insider smartphone has design similar to ASUS ROG Phone 5. It has dimensions of 173.15 x 77.25 x 9.55 mm and weighs just about 210 grams. It has Dual Nano SIM slots and brings support for 5G (SA/NSA) and Dual 4G VoLTE.
The Qualcomm Snapdragon Insider smartphone feature Qualcomm 3D Sonic Sensor (Gen 2) for biometrics. It is powered by Android 11 OS out of the box. Qualcomm has promised 4 years of regular security updates for Android software however, Qualcomm has not revealed its OS update strategy.
It has Dual Stereo speakers consisting of AAC SLS0916A-04 front firing speaker and AAC 1216SLS side firing bottom speaker. It also includes WDA8835 Smart AMP and supports USB Type-C audio.
Coming to specifications of Snapdragon Insiders Smartphone, it has 6.7-inch Samsung AMOLED display boasting 2448 x 1080 pixels resolution at 20.4:9 aspect ratio and has HDR10/HDR10+ certification. Its screen offers 144Hz refresh rate, 111.23% DCI-P3 colors, 106.87% NTSC color gamut, 150.89% sRGB colors and 1nits to 800nits outdoor brightness and 1200nits peak brightness. The Display has Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protection on top.
As you might expect, Snapdragon Inside mobile is powered by octa-core Snapdragon 888 mobile platform with Adreno 660 GPU. It has 16GB LPDDR5 RAM and 512GB UFS 3.1 storage space. It has 4000mAh (typical) battery capacity and supports 65W HyperCharge fast charging and Quick Charge 5.0 protocols.
The Qualcomm Snapdragon Insiders phone specs includes triple cameras at back. These include 64MP (main, Sony IMX686, F/1.8, 0 .8um pixels, OIS) + 12MP (125˚ ultra-wide, 1/2.55″ Sony IMX363, F/2.2, 4cm macro) + 8MP (telephoto, 3x Optical zoom, up to 12x total zoom, OIS) cameras with dual LED Flash. The rear cameras support 8K video recording at 30fps, 4K at 60fps, slow motion 4K at 120fps and slow motion 1080p at 240fps. For selfies, Qualcomm has included 24MP front camera.
In terms of connectivity, there is support for Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax, Wi-Fi Hotspot, Triple band (2.4GHz / 5GHz / 6GHz), Bluetooth V5.2, USB Type-C, NFC and GPS/GLONASS/Beidou/Galileo/QZSS/NavIC (several with dual bands).
The Limited Edition Qualcomm Snapdragon Insiders phone price is set at $1499 (Rs. 1,12,050 approx.). It will soon land in markets of U.S., UK, Germany, China and other regions. Qualcomm will also bundle Premium Earbuds by Master & Dynamic, 65W charger, Custom Rubber Bumper and Enhanced Braided cables along with handset.
Interestingly, this Snapdragon Insider smartphone is also coming to India. There is a slight difference though. It will come with a slower 35W charger inside the box. Exact pricing for Indian markets is not known yet.
