Earlier this month Xiaomi had teased ‘Desh Ka Smartphone‘. Today, company has officially launched Redmi 5A cellphone in India.
It has a 5-inch IPS display with 1280 x 720 pixel HD reaolution. The screen offers 1000: 1 contrast ratio, 72% (typical) / 68% (minimum) color gamut and supports multi-touch as well.
Under the hood is a 1.4GHz Quad-Core Snapdragon 425 processor with Adreno 308 GPU clocked at 500MHz. It has 2GB RAM with 16GB ROM and 3GB RAM with 32GB internal memory. Both variants allow further expansion up 128GB using MicroSD card.
The mobile phone sports dedicated Dual SIM and supports 4G VoLTE in India. Its Chinese variant came with Hybrid slot. It runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat os with MIUI 9 on top.
It has Dimensions of 140.4 x 70.1 x 8.35 mm and Weighs 137 grams. The device features in unibody design with Metal-like matte finish. Sadly there is no fingerprint sensor.
The Xiaomi Redmi 5A specs include a 13MP rear shooter with PDAF, LED Flash, f/2.2 aperture and records 1080p videos. On the front side is 5MP snapper with F/2.0 aperture.
A 3000mAh (typical) / 2910mAh (minimum) Battery powers the hardware. Apart from that, it has Infrared Sensor and supports Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS + GLONASS and MicroUSB V2. 0 connectivity.
The Xiaomi Redmi 5A price starts at Rs. 5,999 for the 2GB RAM / 16GB storage variant, and goes up to Rs. 6,999 for the 3GB RAM / 32GB storage model. The smartphone will be available in Dark Grey, Gold, and Rose Gold color variants.
Xiaomi is offering Rs. 1000 discount on 2GB RAM variant for the first 5 Million units sold in India, thus bringing down price to Rs. 4999.
The Redmi 5A will be available online at Flipkart and Mi.com along with Mi Home Stores from December 7 at 12pm, before being made available via Xiaomi’s offline retail partners across the country. The smartphone will be available in Dark Grey, Gold, and Rose Gold color variants
