Samsung has officially announced two new SoCs under its Snapdragon 700 Series called Snapdragon 730 and Snapdragon 730G.
The SD730 incorporates technologies which were previously exclusive to Snapdragon 800 Series SoC’s (including 4th Generation). The SD730G on the other hand packs in special Snapdragon Elite Gaming features along with various software and hardware enhancements to cater needs of mobile games.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 730 Mobile Platform
The chipset is made using 8nm process technology and features in octa-cores. It consists of two 2.2GHz Kryo 470 (Performance A76 based) cores and six 1.8GHz Kryo 470 (Efficiency A55 based) CPU cores. These are paired with Qualcomm Adreno 618 GPU. Additionally it hs OpenCL 2.0 (Full), OpenGL ES 3.2, DirectX 12 and Vulkan 1.1 API support.
The Snapdragon 730 supports displays with up to 2520 x 1080 pixels FHD+ resolution with HDR10 support. It can handle up to 8GB memory, 2 x 16 LPDDR4X 1866MHz, eMMC, UFS 2.1 hear 3 1-lane, USB 3.1 and SD 3.0.
The SD730 SoC features in Qualcomm Snapdragon X12 LTE modem which delivers up to 800Mbps DL and up to 150 Mbps UL, LA A and 4X4 MIMO. It also supports Dual SIM LTE, VoLTE with SRVCC to 3GB and 2G, Vo-Wi-Fi with LTE call continuity and HD/UltraHD voice (EVS).
Moreover, the chipset also includes Qualcomm Hexagon 688 DSP, Neural Processing SD and Qualcomm All-Ways Aware technology. In terms of audio there is Qualcomm Aqstic audio codec (up to WCD9341) and speaker amplifier (up to WSA8815), Native DSD support, PCM up to 384 kHz/32-bit, Qualcomm TrueWireless Stereo Plus technology and Qualcomm aptX Adaptive audio.
The Snapdragon 730 features in Qualcomm Spectra 350 ISP which supports up to 192MP / up to 4MP with MFNR / up to 36MP, MFNR, ZSL, 30fps single camera or 22MP dual shooter, Dual 14-bit ISPs with Zero Shutter Lag, Hybrid AF, 4K 30fps capture, Rec. 2020 color gamut video, up to 10 bit color depth, Multi-Frame Noise reduction etc.
The Chipset can handle formats like HDR10, HLG, 4K HDR video with Portrait mode, Bokeh (4K at 300fps, Hybrid AF with dual Phase detection (2PD) sensors, Realtime object classification etc. It can handle up to 4K HDR10 PQ and HLG Video Playback, up to 4K Ultra HD capture at 30fps, 1080p at 120fps, H.264 (AVC), H.265 (HEVC) VP8 and VP9 playback.
The Snapdragon 730 is also Wi-Fi 6 ready with support for Wi-Fi 802.11ax, 8 02.11ac Wave 2, 2×2 (2-Stream) MU-MIMO, Dual Band (2.4/5GHz) with DBS, 60GHz GPS/GLONASS/Beidou/Galileo/QZSS/SBAS and Bluetooth V5.0. Qualcomm Quick Charge 4+ fast charging is also present.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G Mobile Platform
It has all the features on SD730 but comes with several enhancements for gaming buffs. It has up to 15% faster graphics rendering compared to Snapdragon 730 (25% faster compared to Snapdragon 710).
The Snapdragon 730G offers True HDR gaming by delivering extremely real / rich graphics. It has cinema quality processing, boasting over 1 billion shades of color.
There is a Jank Reducer feature which reduces Janks by up to 90% in games running at 30fps. There is an anti-cheating extension as well. There are several camera enhancements with support for Cinemagraph, low power voice activation and HD super Slo-mo at 960fps.
The SD730G also comes with Wi-Fi Latency manager which optimizes network settings and Wi-Fi configurations for efficient online gaming and smooth fast game play.
