MediaTek has officially introduced a new 5G chipset for smartphones called MediaTek Dimensity 700.
The chipset is based on 7nm TSMC process comes with eight cores. These include two 2.2GHz Cortex-A76 performance cores + six 2GHz Cortex-A55 efficient cores. The 7nm SoC is up to 28% more power efficient than 8nm.
The MediaTek Dimensity features in ARM Mali-G57 MC2 GPU clocked at 950Mhz for graphics. It comes with ultra-fast 2133Mhz LPDDR4X memory and supports 1GB/s UFS 2.2 (2-lane)storage. It also comes with MediaTek 5G UltraSave technology which uses network and content awareness intelligence to manage modem’s operating mode in real-time for enhancing battery.
The chipset has support for displays with 2520 x 1080 pixels resolution at 21:9 aspect ratio and 90Hz refresh rate. It has bundled 5G modem with support for 2G / 3G / 4G / 5G Multi-Mode, 4G Carrier Aggregation (CA), CDMA2000 1x/EVDO Rev. A (SRLTE), EDGE, 4G FDD / TDD, 5G FDD / TDD, GSM, TD-SCDMA and WDCDMA.
The Dimensity 700 has Dual 5G SIM, VoNR support and 5G-CA enabled. It delivers up to 2CC 5G carrier aggregation delivering up to 2.77Gbps DL speeds and over 30% greater throughput layer coverage.
Camera features include support for dual 16MP + 16MP or 64MP single along with multi-camera framework, Multi-frame Noise Reduction for low light performance, AI-Camera for bokeh / color adjustment, Hardware depth engine and other capture accelerators.
In terms of connectivity, there is support for Wi-Fi 5 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Dual Band, Bluetooth V5.1, GPS (L1+L5) / GLONASS (L1OF) / Beidou (B1I + B2a) / Galileo (E1 + E5a) / QZSS (L1CA + L5) / NavIC.
Smartphones powered by MediaTek Dimensity 700 are expected soon.
