MediaTek Helio G96 and Helio G88 SoC announced

MediaTek has officially unveiled its latest SoC in its Helio G Series lineup called Helio G96 and Helio G88. Both of these chipsets will be seen inside smartphones launching later this year.

MediaTek Helio G96 Specifications

The Helio G96 is based on 12nm TSMC process. It has two Cortex-A76 cores clocked at 2.05GHz and six Cortex-A55 cores. The SoC supports 2X LPDDR4X RAM (up to 2133MHz) and eMMC 5.1 / UFS 2.2 storage.

The Helio G96 handle displays with up to 25620 x 1080 pixels resolution at 21:9 aspect ratio and can easily handle 120Hz refresh rates. It has ARM Mali-G57 MC2 GPU for graphics.

The SoC support several camera setups like 108MP, 26MP + 16MP, 16MP + 16MP, 32MP at 30fps ZSL. It also allows Single / Dual camera bokeh and comes with HW depth engine, Hardware Warping Engine (EIS), Rolling Shutter compensation (RSC) engine, MEMA 3DNR and multi-frame noise reduction. There is support for AI face detection as well.

The MediaTek Helio G96 can video Encode / Decode 2160p, H.264, H.265 / HEVC, 4K at 30fps, 1080p at 120fps and 720p at 240fps. The chipset also supports Wi-Fi 5 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth V5.2, GPS/QZSS(l1+l5)/Galileo(E1+E5a)/Beidou(B1C+B2a)/NAVIC positioning.

It has support Cat-13 DL, 4G Carrier Aggregation (CA), CDMA2000 1x/EVDO Rev. A (SRLTE), 4G FDD / TDD, HSPA +, 4X4 MIMO, 2CC CA, 256QAM, TAS 2.0, HPUE, IMS (VoLTE\ViLTE\WoWi-Fi), eMBMS, Dual 4G VoLTE (DSDS), Band 71.

MediaTek Helio G88 Specifications

The Helio G88 SoC comes with two 2GHz Cortex-A75 cores and six 1.8GHz Cortex-A55 cores. It is based on TSMC’s 12nm processor and supports 2x LPDDR4X (up to 1800MHz) with maximum up to 8GB and eMMC 5.1 storage.

For optics, the chipset supports 64MP, 16MP + 16MP, Single/Dual cam bokeh, AI Face ID and AI Smart Photo Album. The MediaTek Helio G88 also brings support for Bokeh hardware Warping Engine (EIS), Rolling Shutter Compensation (RSC) engine, MEMA 3DNR and Multi-frame noise reduction.

The Helio G88 features ARM Mali-G52 MC2 GPU clocked at 1GHz. It also brings support for displays with 2520 x 1080 pixels resolution at 21:9 aspect ratio and 90Hz refresh rate. There is support for Cat-7 DL / Cat-13 UL, 4G Carrier Aggregation (CA), CDMA2000 1x/EVDO Rev. A (SRLTE), 4G FDD / TDD, HSPA +, DL/UL CA, TAS 2.0, HPUE, IMS (VoLTE\ViLTE\WoWi-Fi), eMBMS, Dual 4G VoLTE (DSDS), Band 71 as well.

For connectivity, it has Dual Band Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth V5.0, FM Radio and GPS/GLONASS/Beidou/Galileo positioning.
